The Maries County R-II School District is excited to announce the hiring of Derek Watz as one of Belle High School’s Special Education instructors for the 2023-2024 school year.
Derek received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/sociology from Missouri State University and then went straight into a Master’s program there where he received his Master’s degree in K-12 Cross-categorical. He’s been in education for 10 years and taught anything from English Concepts to Social/Behavioral.
In his free time, Derek enjoys reading, e-games, movies, board games, football, and spending time with family and friends.
When asked about joining Maries R-II Derek commented, “I'm looking forward to relocating to the area and getting to know the students and staff at Maries County R-2!”
