BMS Fifth Grade Class

Ms. Adams Homeroom

BMS began a STEM Club in September. At the first meeting, Brayden Cooper from our Technology Department visited and set up the two 3D printers. He has been and continues to be essential in the success of project design and assistance. The students ask, ‘Is Braden coming in today? I know of something we should print.”.

When asked how they feel about having a 3D printer in the classroom, here is what they had to say,

“It is hard to choose what new project to do next!”

“When it’s printing, it gets us excited to see how it is doing and we like to get up and go check on it.”

“It’s pretty cool because you can make just about anything in it.”

“I think it is wonderful technology, all the things it can make, I like it.”

“Sometimes when people are done with work, they go up and check on it. I think it’s neat.”

“I love having a 3D printer in here, it is fun to watch it, and I love seeing the results.”

“You can print stuff that is cool out of it.”

“The 6th grade students are always asking what we are printing next.”

“I like the stuff that it prints and the new filament colors that it prints. I take some of the leftover pieces and make fishing lures out of them.”

“I like how out of nowhere you print stuff and after about an hour or the end of the day it’s pretty cool to check out the stuff.”

“I like to see the stuff it prints. It’s weird and creative because sometimes you surprise us and we don’t know what you are printing.”

“I thought it was really exciting to take stuff home. It was pretty cool because most of the stuff I really liked.”

“When I took the magnet home, my mom and I talked about how it goes from filament to that shape.”

“My dad liked the magnet a lot. He put it on the refrigerator with some of my work. He also set the dinosaurs on top of the frig.”

“I love seeing my parents' reactions. They think it is really cool. I explained how I brought home a piece that tipped over how you have to change the pattern sometimes. They thought stuff never tipped over.”

“My grandma thought when we were printing the heart shape stuff how sweet it was you were thinking of all the parents.”

Printing is now in the daily routine. Currently we are printing a bunch of Easter eggs and will even have a golden egg. Mrs. Seaver plans to hide them in the building and the person who finds the golden egg, gets all the 3D eggs and a prize from her.
