BELLE, Mo. — United Way of Central Missouri, in partnership with Scholastic, recently donated more than 200 books to the brand-new early childhood center in Belle, Missouri, part of the Maries County R-II School District.
The donation will help fill the new center’s shelves with books that encourage a love of reading, spark curiosity and support early learning for children in the Belle community.
Dr. Lenice Basham, superintendent of the Maries County R-II School District, accepted the donation on behalf of the district, its teachers and the children who will benefit from the new books.
“Putting books into the hands of young children is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can support early learning,” said Kurt Hafley, Early Childhood Program Coordinator for United Way of Central Missouri. “We’re grateful to Scholastic for helping us provide these resources and excited to see the difference they will make for the children and teachers at Belle’s new early childhood center.”
