We welcome Ms. Gabrielle Scott to the Maries R-2 School District!!

Ms. Gabrielle Scott is a graduate of Belle High School and has returned to the district as a paraprofessional.  She recently graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors in Psychology, minor in Biological Studies and Religious Studies, along with a certificate in Multicultural Studies.

While Ms. Scott hadn’t formally accepted a job position in education until this year; she has worked as a research assistant in a developmental psychology lab on the University of Missouri campus for three years. She conducted her capstone research project in an early childhood lab where she determined gender and age differences in play type(s) among children. While working in labs, she also served in Sigma Phi Lambda, a sorority on campus. Prior to COVID, she also served on several Mizzou Alternative Break trips where she traveled to places like New Jersey, The Dominican Republic, and even locally throughout Missouri.

Along with being a paraprofessional, Ms. Scott will also be serving as the high school volleyball coach. If she is not at the school, she can usually be found hanging out with her four year old dog, Kilo, and her newest addition to the furry family, Blaze the Cat. When asked about returning to Maries County R-II Gabrielle stated, “With my background in psychology, biology, culture, and religion, I hope to contribute greatly to the school district in the coming year. I'm very excited to be returning to the district and ‘back home’!”   Ms. Scott’s favorite quote came from one of her college professors, “it is worthwhile to know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.”

We are thankful Ms. Scott has decided to return to her hometown and join the Maries County R-2 staff!
