The Maries County R-II School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Brad Peterson as one of our High School History instructors for the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Peterson received a dual major degree in political science and secondary education (social science) from Columbia College. He then went on to get his Master's degree in School Administration from William Woods University. His teaching experience includes 4 years in Columbia Public Schools and 24 years at Linn High School. His experience includes all core Social Studies/Social Science courses and many elective classes from Archaeology to AP Psychology. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, especially his granddaughter. His other hobbies are working on putting an engine back in his 1955 Chevy, playing guitar with friends, fishing, hunting and everything involving history. When asked about joining Belle High School, Brad commented, "I am very excited to work at Belle High School. Even though I retired, teaching is what I truly enjoy. My goal is to bring excitement when learning about history. I am looking forward to a great year!" Please help us welcome Mr. Peterson to the Maries R-2 community!

Maries R2 schools had three kids compete in the Missouri State Show Me Games today in Columbia. Nolie Finnegan (freshman) took 1st in the 3000 meter race and 3rd in the 1500 meter race. Emberlynn Miller (3rd grade) took 9th place in the long jump, Harper Ridenhour (4th grade) took 6th in the long jump. It was awesome watching our small school compete with the big schools in Missouri. Great job girls! Next weekend we have quite a few competing in the Show Me State XC games. Watch for results!

They did it! Over the last 10 days, these kids used clues to identify and explore all 50 U.S. states and found the lost explorer, Penelope Peabody. Along the way, they learned facts about the history, flags, and capitols of each state. They also sampled famous foods and had daily activities.
